The Science Behind Hyperbaric Therapy
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is the medical use of oxygen in a pressurized environment, at a level higher than 1 atmosphere absolute (ATA). Increased pressure allows for oxygen to dissolve and saturate the blood plasma (independent of hemoglobin/red blood cells), which yields a broad variety of positive physiological, biochemical and cellular effects.
History of Hyperbaric Therapy
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment that can be traced back to the 1600’s. In 1662, the first renowned chamber was built and operated by a British clergyman named Henshaw. It is because of this success that celebrities and athletes have been using HBOT to heal, repair and stay younger at a genetic level. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has only recently become available to the general public and the future of HBOT will certainly have patients using hyperbaric medicine to protect their health.

Prescription Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is the medical use of 100% oxygen in a pressurized environment at a level higher than 1 atmosphere absolute (ATA). Oxygen is classified as a drug by the FDA and all patients will require a prescription for HBOT and one can be provided when booking the free consultation. Mild Hyperbarics or mHBOT is the use of an inflatable bag chamber and are manufactured and recognized by the FDA as devices ONLY for the specific treatment of Altitude sickness (Mountain Sickness). They are a great adjunct to Prescription HBOT. Contact Us to learn more about the treatment options available.
