Chronic Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is debilitating disease spread through deer-tick bites and is the most common vector-borne disease in the United States. Lyme disease is currently responsible for 91 percent of all vector-borne diseases.

As many as 300,000 people contract Lyme disease in the United States every year. The descent into chronic Lyme and pathologic inflammation leads to fatigue, disability, and eventually neurologic changes.

HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY HAS BEEN RESEARCHED AND FOUND TO BE AN EFFECTIVE ADJUNCT THERAPY IN THE TREATMENT OF CHRONIC LYME DISEASE

In recent studies HBOT show great promise as a treatment for Lyme disease. More than 20 years ago an American scientist and medical doctor discovered that oxygen under pressure, or HBOT, was effective at killing the Borrelia bacteria that is responsible for Lyme disease. By increasing ambient pressure to 2-3x atmospheric pressure, the study found that almost 85% patients had statistically significant improvements in their chronic Lyme disease.

Since this tremendously successful study a number of clinicians have used HBOT to treat patients with chronic Lyme disease. With early infection antibiotics may kill the Borrelia bacteria. Unfortunately Lyme disease is often found too late for antibiotics to be successful because the bacteria hides in fibroblasts and protects the bacteria from antibiotic therapy. Hyperbaric Oxygen is able to penetrate into the fibroblasts and uses oxygen and Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) to kill the bacteria.

BENEFITS OF HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY

Clinical studies have demonstrated the following benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for patients with Chronic Lyme Disease.

CHRONIC LYME DISEASE SYMPTOMS

  • Joint and Muscular Pain and Inflammation ("Lyme arthritis").
  • Neurological Dysfunction
  • Severe Fatigue
  • Organ Inflammation
  • Cognitive Decline

HBOT ENHANCES HEALING AND RECOVERY

  • Reduces inflammation
  • Minimizes pain and discomfort
  • Reduces swelling
  • Promotes growth factors
  • Mobilizes stem Cells

SUPPORTS HEALING AT THE CELLULAR LEVEL

  • Promotes anti-inflammatory proteins
  • Improved angiogenesis enhancing blood flow to tissue
  • Induces fibroblast activation
  • Enhances collagen production

REDUCES RISK OF DEMENTIA

  • Decreases Neurovascular Dysfunction
  • Elevates phagocytosis to above normal levels
  • Enhances microbial activity
  • Increases intracellular leukocytes
