# RX-O2: Addiction and opioid withdrawal

## Clinical context
HBOT is an emerging, off-label adjunct for opioid withdrawal and addiction-related symptoms. Two small 2022 human pilots in people receiving methadone reported encouraging symptom findings; their size and design limit conclusions. Animal withdrawal studies from 2016, 2018, and 2025 provide mechanistic context. They do not establish human relapse prevention, a cure, or benefit for every addiction.

Maintain established addiction care. HBOT does not replace methadone, buprenorphine, other indicated medication, counseling, or medically supervised withdrawal management. Do not change prescribed medication to start HBOT. There is no established HBOT session count for this indication. A licensed provider evaluates suitability and prescribes care when appropriate.

## RX-O2 facilities
RX-O2 provides physician-led hyperbaric care using FDA-cleared hard-shell chambers. Patients breathe 100% medical-grade oxygen through a dedicated mask or hood while the chamber is pressurized with air. Device clearance does not establish approval or effectiveness for addiction. Technicians are certified through the National Hyperbaric Safety Association (NHSA).

For suspected overdose, call 911 and give naloxone if available. Do not delay emergency care for HBOT. Alcohol or benzodiazepine withdrawal needs medical assessment.
